Clinics, government hospitals, and specialized hospitals will continue to give medicines to expatriate patients.
They indicated that the current charges of KD 1 at the clinics and KD 2 at the hospitals are paid by expatriate patients for obtaining medicines and not for medical consultation, affirming that medicines will continue to be granted to expatriate patients until the inauguration of the insurance hospitals and initial healthcare centers.
The sources said a large percent of the expatriates in Kuwait are domestic workers (housemaids) and drivers, and their Kuwaiti sponsors have to bear their expenses including medical expenses.
