The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday the completion of the first step of the electronic visa project for a number of foreign countries.

In a statement, the ministry said that this move comes within the framework of the Egyptian government's keenness to facilitate the issuance of visas of various types to foreign visitors in order to encourage tourists to visit Egypt, as well as facilitating the entry of businessmen to the country to increase trade and investment.

The statement pointed out that the project includes the launch of the portal (e-Visa) through the official website (www.visa2egypt.gov.eg) in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on one side and the Ministries of Interior, Communications, Information Technology and Tourism on the other.

It noted that the first stage of the "electronic visa" included 46 nationalities who were allowed to obtain a compulsory visa at the Egyptian ports of arrival, as well as organizing a practical presentation to introduce the electronic visa system to embassies of the 46 countries at the Ministry' headquarter.
