KUWAIT, May 7 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said on Sunday that it was resolved to overcome all challenges that undermine food security.
In a speech to open a workshop on agricultural production, KISR's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) liaison officer Dr. Nader Al-Awadhi said that the institute seeks to boost agricultural output through the use of radioisotopes.
On the workshop held in conjunction with the IAEA, he said that is part of activities designed to demonstrate the proper use of soil for agricultural production.
Moreover, Al-Awadhi spoke of the Cooperative Agreement for the Arab States in Asia for Research, Development, and Training (ARASIA), a pact signed by various Arab nations germane to nuclear scientific research.
Meanwhile, he highlighted the workshop as an opportunity to discuss the correlation between agriculture and food security, adding that the signatories of the ARASIA agreement seek strategies for greater agricultural output.
Similarly, Dr. Habiba Al-Maniea, an environmental and biological researcher, said that the participants in the workshop will get acquainted with the most optimal methods of soil use for efficient agricultural production.
The week-long workshop consists of lectures and sessions that illustrate how an ideal soil for farming is instrumental in leading to enhanced agricultural output.
