Ministry of Electricity and Water to install smart meters in Kuwait

As­sis­tant Un­der­sec­re­tary for Con­sumer Af­fairs in the Min­istry of Elec­tric­ity and Wa­ter Dr Mishal Al-Otaibi said the min­istry is ready to in­stall the first batch of smart me­ters in Kuwait by early De­cem­ber 2018, re­ports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Otaibi noted the min­istry will take de­liv­ery of suf­fi­cient quan­tity of smart me­ters soon to serve all parts of the coun­try.

He stated the min­istry cur­rently col­lects nearly KD 27 mil­lion in rev­enue from con­sumers monthly, and ex­pected the in­stal­la­tion of smart me­ters will save the sec­tor KD 400 mil­lion in op­er­a­tion cost an­nu­ally, in­di­cat­ing two bil­lion di­nars is spent in op­er­at­ing the power sta­tions and in­stal­la­tions each year.
