Over 120 engineers, technicians protest non-payment of salaries

KUWAIT CITY, May 2: More than 120 engineers and technicians of a contracting company working for Ministry of Electricity and Water subcontract demonstrated because they have not been paid their salaries for two months, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the ministry is suffering from a shortage of such manpower and asserted the need to find a solution to the problem. Sources made clear suspension the contracts of companies affiliated to the Ministry of Electricity or non-renewal will cause the problem to the ministry because most of these employees have been working for the ministry for more 10 years and have the experience to manage the acute situations.

The sources said the striking workers are asked to sign letters that the company does not owe them end of service indemnity. With regard to non-payment of the salaries for two months, sources say, some irregularities in their contracts have been discovered.
