Ministry of Education Undersecretary Dr. Haitham Al-Athary has requested the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to indicate the date for implementing a reduction in working hours of pregnant employees in all levels of education – kindergarten, elementary, intermediate and secondary, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, Al-Athary disclosed the policy applies to married female employees at the ministry headquarters, other sectors, and various schools.

He urged the CSC to quickly respond to the request so that the ministry can act in line with law number 21/2015 on child’s rights. He pointed out the law affects every sector of the ministry and schools because women constitute a larger percentage of staff. He added other teachers have had to take extra classes due to this law.
