Suicide blast kills one person, wounds 10 others in North Pakistan

At least one person was killed and 10 others injured in a suicide attack on a security force convoy in Nowshera city of Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province on Thursday, said officials.

District Police Officer (DPO) Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari told KUNA that a suicide bomber riding a motorbike apparently targeted a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle in Nowshera's Kachehri Chowk area.

The suicide bomber was the only one killed in the blast while six FC personnel and four civilians were wounded in the incident, he said. The FC vehicle was travelling from eastern Rawalpindi city to northern Peshawar city at the time of the attack.

The spokesperson for Chief Minister of KPK, Shaukat Yousafzai also confirmed that the blast was a suicide attack, adding that the bomb contained 5 kilograms of explosive material.

The security forces immediately cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway. The injured were shifted to the nearby military hospital where condition of the several injured was reported critical.
