US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung on Friday to reaffirm their commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and their "ironclad alliance.

"They committed to remaining closely coordinated in all of their efforts to create conditions for dialogue with North Korea," accoding to a brief statement by the State Department.

They also agreed that must continue until North Korea embraces denuclearization, the statement added.
