The Criminal Court sentenced an Egyptian expatriate to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of AED 102 million (about KD 8.2 million). AED 51 million was retrieved from a deceased Kuwaiti defendant as the total amount embezzled from 2007 to 2012 in the Military Attaché Office of Kuwaiti Embassy in Abu Dhabi out of the money allocated by Ministry of Defense for medical treatment.
Head of the Federation of Arab Engineers and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Society of Engineers Faisal Al-Atel affirmed that the society rejected about 11,000 unaccredited certificates since the start of the application of professional tests for expatriate engineers in March 2018, revealing that, “The vast majority of the holders of these certificates are Asian nationals.”
Minister of Finance and acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs Maryam Al-Aqeel denied that government has any tendency to reduce or cut down subsidies, stressing the idea of compromising the citizen’s pocket is out of the question but it is impossible for them to enjoy and fortify their legal positions, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al- Jabri revealed that 440 Kuwaitis resigned from the ministry during the period from 2016 to 2018, reports Al-Rai daily. He clarified that these employees resigned based on their own desire, and mostly without specifying any reasons.
