Increase in service charges to hit economic status of expats - Expert calls for comprehensive reform
April 1: The positive and negative implications of the recent increase in prices of goods and services against expatriates in the country, especially in healthcare services — coupled with the disparity in population structure where expatriates constitute about two-thirds of the population and dominate certain segments of professions, have been put into public discourse among people in their various professions, reports Al- Nahar daily.
April 2: MP Safa A. Al-Hashem has submitted a proposal which aims at reducing traffic congestion on the roads of the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to the MP, the proposal is in line with the government’s plan to increase the traffic capacity of the roads, especially with the country witnessing increased intense traffic congestions amid the ongoing expansions of some public roads.
April 2: Several human rights activists and lawyers have rejected the decision issued by the Ministry of Interior according to which ‘Anyone reported absconding by the sponsor after Jan 4, 2016, shall not be granted the residence permit even if the absconder rectifies his/her situation, reports Al-Rai daily.
