March 9: Al- Seyassah adds, MP Safa Al- Hashim is once again targeting expatriates through two new proposals. Previously, she had urged the concerned authorities to charge expatriates for using roads, water, and electricity. She had also blamed expatriates for the shortage of oxygen in emergency rooms in hospitals.
Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has commenced procedures to reduce the number of expatriate employees in the authority. It has decided to dismiss 36 administrative employees before the end of the current fiscal year, while over 50 Kuwaiti employees resigned en mass, reports Arab Times daily quoting an informed source.
Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Falah Al-Azab said on Tuesday that the “government is holding on to the one-vote electoral system and a law prohibiting convicts from running for elections.” The Minister of Justice’s statement came in response to a question posed by the press over a suggestion to amend electoral laws in a way that would allow the electorate to vote for two candidates instead of one. “The single-vote system, implemented by virtue of an Amiri decree, will remain in place,” he said.
Minister of Justice and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Faleh Al-Azeb disclosed that he is seriously thinking about putting up special courts for inheritance lawsuits, taking into consideration that it takes about 20 years before a ruling is announced on many of these cases, reports Al-Anba daily.
